So i was clearing some stuff from my PC because I was kinda tight on storage and I accidentally deleted BC, when i did that i didnt really think much and just told myself that ill just download it again So when i downloaded the BC client setup, everything was fine, I chose where i wanted it. Try removing the machine from all unnecessary collections, leave for an hour or so for the machine to expunge any of the old deployments and try again. Task sequences in particular usually have many steps and this seems to flood the client causing it to display this ‘stuck at 0%’ behaviour. Essentially in both circumstances, the machines experiencing the issue had a lot of applications and/or task sequences deployed to them. Turns out the answer, with hindsight, was the same in both instances – too many policies. Now, I have solved this by using a BackgroundWorker object to get. If there is anywhere I can get help, this has got to be the place.

Everything is fine and dandy however the UI freezes until my application finishes downloading the source code of the site. I'm receiving the response by a Byte array and everything works out well, except for one thing: when the DownloadData method gets executed, it'll freeze my Form until the method returns. I'm trying to have my application download the source code of a website and filter out the information that I need to pull on my application. If I left the offending application to time out – this might take several hours btw – I could usually restart it and it would go ahead and download. I'm using DownloadData from WebClient object to download favicons from couple of websites. When this problem occurs, the CCMExec and TSInstallSWupdate processes appear to be in hanging state.

In the latest instalment, this approach just didn’t work at all so I needed to find what else was causing the issue. During an Operating System deployment of Windows 10 via Configuration Manager, the Install Software Updates task sequence may freeze when large numbers (for example, 50 or more) of updates are applied. Indeed this is an approach I took first time round and usually seemed to work but it isn’t really a fix as such. A Google search will reveal many different ‘fixes’ for this issue, most common of which tends to involve re-installing the ConfigMgr client. I’ve been meaning to do a quick blog about this issue for some time now especially as I have witnessed this incredibly frustrating problem at two separate clients during roll-outs, particularly OS deployments that also require updated applications, etc.
